Dejan Gjorgjievski – »Feeling Is the Foundation of Every Good Therapy«

Dejan Gjorgjievski, a qualified physiotherapist and lecturer at Higeja, has been combining knowledge of physiotherapy, manual techniques, and traditional therapeutic approaches for many years. He believes that a good therapist develops through practice, experience, and a sense of the person. We spoke with him about Bowen Therapy, the importance of therapeutic touch, and the path to quality therapy.
What continues to inspire you in your work with clients and as a lecturer?

The greatest satisfaction comes from working with clients and students. What inspires me in working with clients is the opportunity to help them with their difficulties while continuously deepening my therapeutic knowledge. As a lecturer, I enjoy sharing the techniques, knowledge, and experience I have gained through years of practice.

What led you to become a therapist?

I have always been interested in combining medical sciences with different therapeutic approaches. I was particularly drawn to exploring traditional Chinese medicine and its connection with the modern understanding of the body.

Today, I base my work on combining physiotherapy, neurorehabilitation, manual techniques, and an understanding of the connection between the body and a person’s well-being.

How do you guide participants through the course from the basics to the practical application of Bowen Therapy?

The course is designed as a combination of theory and practice, with practical work making up the larger part. Participants learn the basics of the musculoskeletal system, fascia, myofascial lines, and the functioning of the autonomic nervous system.

The main focus is on learning specific Bowen techniques and sequences that form the foundation of this particular therapeutic method.

What do you find most valuable about teaching Bowen Therapy?

The most rewarding moment is when participants begin applying the techniques they have learned in practice and share their experiences with us. That is when I see that they not only understand the techniques but also develop a feel for them.

You are known for having an exceptional sense of touch. How important is this in therapeutic work?

Feeling is the foundation. Techniques can be learned, but sensitivity develops over time, through practice and presence. Touch is not merely physical – it is a form of communication. Once we become aware of this, therapy becomes deeper and more effective.

What advice would you give to someone encountering this technique for the first time?

The most important things are listening, regular practice, and patience. With persistence, anyone can master the technique and begin applying it in their work.

What do you believe is the key quality of a good therapist?

Dedication and a desire to acquire new knowledge. A therapist develops through perseverance, practice, and continuous learning.

How would you describe Bowen Therapy in one sentence?

It is a modern therapeutic approach that is rapidly developing around the world and offers highly practical knowledge for contemporary therapeutic work.

Najpomembnejši so poslušanje, redna vaja in potrpežljivost.
